About

Sara (she/her) is a researcher in Cognitive Robotics and Human-Robot Interactions.

In her research, she investigates how to develop cognitive architectures for social robots to promote better human-robot interactions and foster robots’ autonomous and adaptive behaviour. Specifically, her PhD thesis focuses on developing a comfort-driven framework to enhance the adaptability and perception of social robots as affective agents. Additionally, she investigated the dynamics of mixed human-robot groups in social contexts, with a particular focus on the phenomenon of social exclusion.

She received a Master's degree in Bioengineering from the University of Genova in 2021. During her PhD, she spent a research period at Heriot-Watt University and the National Robotarium as a participant in the “Trustworthy AI" short-term visit promoted by FAIR and Alan Turing University.
