About

Ana Maria Panaite is a Post Doc at Nanomaterials for Biological Applications (NABM) group, at Istituto Italiano di Technologia (IIT), Genova, Italy.  Previously, she was a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at IIT and received her Ph.D. from the University of Genova. She also holds a Master’s degree in Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country in Spain.

During her Ph.D, Ana was involved in a multidisciplinary research project (HeatNMof) focused on engineering the surface of magnetic nanoparticles with Metal-Organic Framework (MOFs) for hyperthermia and drug delivery applications, under the supervision of Dr. Teresa Pellegrino (IIT), Dr. Pablo del Pino (USC) and Dr. Orietta Monticelli (UniGe). 

She joined the BioNanoTools laboratory at CiQUS (University of Santiago de Compostela), and the Adsorption & Advanced Materials Laboratory Research at the University of Cambridge, for 8 and 2 months respectively, performing part of her Ph.D project on the synthesis of magnetic-nanoMOF composites under the supervision of Pablo del Pino (USC) and David Fairen-Jimenez (Cambridge).
